Meet The Red Root Marketing Team
Jessica MAAREK, Founder and Social Media Maven
Jessica founded Red Root Marketing in 2013 in response to a need she observed in the local business communities of northern New Jersey. Small business owners needed help connecting to their customers and prospects without breaking the bank. Jessica was able to develop a social media marketing approach, rooted deeply in creating community connections, that allowed her to bring awareness to these local businesses in an efficient and effective manner through grassroots and hyperlocal techniques.
Jessica grew up in Wisconsin, lived in France for 6 years and has been on the East Coast with her family for over 18 years. In Paris, Jessica was Quality Control Manager in a business language school and quickly learned how to market the courses being taught by over 70 teachers to C-Suite executives. Leveraging that skill on the local level in New Jersey, Jessica became event coordinator at The Fine Grind Coffee Bar where she orchestrated a full-scale guerrilla marketing campaign, which led her to connect with other small, local businesses as a PR, Marketing and Social Media consultant.
Jessica lives in Cedar Grove with her husband, Stephane, two amazing sons and a very bossy chihuahua named Zizzy.
Lynne BRENNEN, Partner and Strategy Guru
Lynne joined Red Root Marketing in early 2017 about 30 seconds after Jessica asked her if she would be interested in setting aside her own company, New Leaf Media, to help grow the social media agency.
Prior to starting New Leaf Media, a national marketing consultancy, Lynne built her career and marketing expertise at The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. As Senior Vice President of Circulation at Dow Jones, Lynne was responsible for marketing for The Wall Street Journal and WSJ.com. While at The New York Times, Lynne honed her skills in digital marketing and e-commerce while leading teams in consumer marketing, strategic planning and market research.
Lynne received a bachelors from Northwestern University and holds an MBA from Boston University. Lynne lives in Montclair with her husband, Mark Friedlander, and an empty nest to which her brilliant daughter, Rachel, occasionally returns.
Adrienne comes to Red Root with experience in marketing strategy and campaign management. At Dow Jones she developed and executed go-to-market plans for global product launches and was responsible for positioning of the products and supporting the sales teams. Recently Adrienne has been a marketing consultant for B2B clients and a local magazine. She was introduced to Red Root by a mutual friend and is looking forward to working both on strategy as well as diving further into social media.
Adrienne grew up in various countries in Europe and received an MA from Edinburgh University where she met her husband; they now live in Maplewood with their three children (whose accent is nothing like theirs!)
Social Media Specialist
Rachael graduated from Montclair State University in May of 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Media Arts with a concentration in Public Relations. During her time in college, she wrote articles and handled public relations and social media for The Aquarian Weekly, where she discovered her passion for writing and social media engagement.
In her free time, Rachael loves to: discover new music and bands, read books, and make bracelets which she sells on her Etsy shop. She is excited to grow and learn more about social media through her hands-on experience with Red Root and each unique client.
