The crucial seconds before your new sales.

Hello friends,
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the warmer and longer days.
 
Did you know that someone who lands on your website for the first time has a total of 3 seconds to decide whether they want to stay on your website or not?
Yes, you guys, you read right:

ONLY 3 SECONDS!
Isn’t that crazy?
 
No wonder why many business owners have some kind of a love/hate relationship with their own site. They know exactly how important it is. Some of us are very picky with our website and want it to look perfect before we can launch it. Other are more relaxed about the idea and think that as long as the information, phone number and email address are on it, it’s all good!

There’s really no right or wrong way to do this, but you do have to keep in mind that:

1. Your website needs to be clear and organized: have different sections for each information, make sure to have your social media handles, and of course, a super easy-to-find area with the contact numbers and addresses to best reach you or your staff.  

2. You should have some good quality graphics, preferably pictures you have taken of your office, your products, something that represents your business, but it could also be purchased stock photos. The graphics will help make your website more visually attractive, and help give an idea of what you offer. 

 


 

3. You need a "Home" page or an "About" page that is a true representation of who you are and what you do. Also, your "About" page is the place (if you do not want to do it throughout your website) where you can and should really make it personal with a picture of yourself. People - potential customers - like to know who the person behind all of this is. 

 
 
 
 
 

4. It needs to be easy for people to stay in touch with you, and to sign up for your newsletter (if you have one, and by the way... you should have one!!).  Just like on her website, Karen Winick, owner of Pencilworks Studio, created a pop up box that will open and let a visitor sign in. If they are not ready to sign in right away, no problem, they can close the pop-up box down and continue viewing the website.

 

Your website should be a reflection of your brand as it is your new client's first impression of you and your business. You do not want to mess that up!! ;) 

So, how confident are you with your website?
If you're not positive about it, you should ask for opinions. Don't ask your closest friends as they may have a subjective idea; rather, share your website with acquaintances, business partners, or better yet, let us have a look.
